This summer, Catherine Evans Photography was invited to take the photos at the wedding of Antonia, a successful interior designer and Matthew Luff, a builder. The reception was held at Antonia’s family home and they hosted their evening reception with a band and disco in their very own party room at their home, which actually used to be a nightclub! I have spoken before about lucky I have been to photography such special events in some really wonderful and picturesque Shropshire locations.

Being a fairly rural county, a lot of my wedding couples choose to hold their celebrations at home and as a result I have been fortunate enough to visit some truly stunning Shropshire locations that not everyone might not get to see. This wedding was hosted at a beautiful country home near Oswestry and in a stunning Burgoyne marquee. The couple told me that the highlight of their day was being able to host their wedding at home, which meant that all their friends and family could be there, with no restrictions. Sharing such a love-filled day with those closest to us, is after all, what it’s all about! With Oswestry being on the border they described it as The Shropshire (Welsh) and Hampshire (English) clans coming together!

The wedding had a traditional, vintage traditional theme with a colour scheme of pale peach, blush and gold colours. Antonia had a stunning bird cage as a feature for her wedding. The couple told me how much they love music and how important it is to them. The speeches were also very important to them and I have to agree. It’s a time as a professional photographer that I somewhat ‘wait in the wings’ as the day’s proceedings really get going and the guests and wedding couple can relax, enjoy a few drinks and the wedding breakfast and hear tales of their life together and what is special to and about them as a couple. This time enables me to get some of the most natural shots of the wedding party and guests as no one is focussing on a camera, and it’s usually quite an emotional period in the day. The speeches inspire laughter and sometimes tears and lots of my couples really enjoy these un-staged pictures of un-staged moments and they are often some of the best captured images of moments in time when the couple and their guests share their best and most natural smiles with eachother.

Antonia and Matthew met at Loughborough University where we were put in the same accommodation block because they were both very sporty. They were good friends for three years before dating, we went on a couple of dates and the rest is history. We love travelling and opposites definitely attract when it’s comes to our characteristics. I am very arty, theatrical and passionate. I love history and tradition. Matt is very methodical, practical, and logical and never gets stressed. We complement each other perfectly. We love that our friends and family and have the same values.” Awwwwww, true love! Speaking about their photos, the couple said  “It was just the most wonderful day made even more perfect by yourself and Lucy’s support and assistance. It felt like having fond friends with us and you both made us feel so at ease and relaxed. We both would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The photos you emailed are gorgeous and we are very excited for the other moments you captured. We are over the moon with how everything came together and we were so grateful that you were there with your creativity, artistic eye and attention to detail to bring our memories to life.”
