Fabulous Shropshire wedding photography at Hawkstone Hall

I was recently invited to be the wedding photographer at Hawkstone Hall in Shropshire for the wonderful Emma and Mark.

Their wedding at this historic Shropshire venue had party vibes from the very start.

Hawkstone Hall is a magnificent Grade 1 listed, 18th century hall and estate which sits within the hills of the rolling Shropshire countryside. It has ceilings gilded in gold, sweeping staircases, four-poster luxury suites with roll-top tubs and 88 acres of pristine grounds.

It offers the perfect combination of heritage and modern luxury, with natural beauty and charm.

The couple were set up by their best friends who were the best man and one of the bridesmaids. As soon as they met, they said ‘the rest was history.’

The couple now have a 21-month-old son and got engaged during the pandemic in their favourite place, Richmond.

In the run up their big day, the couple told me they were most looking forward to actually saying ‘I do’ and becoming husband and wife, as well as celebrating and spending time with friends and family.

They decided to have a cocktail hour in between the wedding breakfast and the evening reception as well as a band play throughout the day and night to really get everyone in the party and dancing spirit.

Instead of a guest book – the couple opted for telephone box guest list. Where the guests called and left a message for the couple in an old school phone box.

Emma said: “We have a fantastic bunch of friends and family who were all ready to celebrate to celebrate and dance with us. We had two readings, read by our friends. One was based on the TV show Friends and the other has been written especially for us.”

This was a super stylish with a black and white theme.

The bride got ready at Hawkstone Hall in Weston, near Shrewsbury. The music was pumping in the bridal suite and bubbles were flowing, they got the party started early!

The groom got prepped for the big day at The Bear Inn, Drayton Road, Hodnet, near Market Drayton.

When the groom and his men arrived at the hall in the morning, they met in The Cave, which is a fabulous place with a pool table etc.

The ceremony, which started at 1pm, was also held at Hawkstone Hall, in the chapel which was dressed with beautiful white trees. It was followed by a drink’s reception and speeches at 4pm, with the wedding breakfast following from 4.30-6.30pm.

Cocktail hour then commenced with evening guests making their arrival from 7pm.

The traditional cake cutting took place at 7.30pm followed by the first dance and then a party until carriages at 1am.

The bride wore a wedding dress by Elysee with the groom in a suit from

Gieves and Hawkes with the groom wearing a white jacket. The full-length black bridesmaid dresses were from Lipsy at Next.

The make-up artist was EH Artistry makeup, and the wedding hair was created by Hayley Hamilton Hair with flowers from Blossom and Blooms.

Synergy Band and Parallel Lines provided the music and entertainment with the groom, Mark, mixing the first DJ set himself.

Feather and Fox provided a sequin wall, neon signs and the telephone box. Beanos Events took care of chair dressing for the ceremony, Chelsie Cook Cakes made the wedding cake and Nick Boy was the videographer for the day.

The reception took full advantage of all the stunning grounds at Hawkstone Hall and some of my favourite shots were taken along the impressive sweeping drive while the guests enjoyed cocktail hour.

Here is a testimonial from Emma and Mark:

“Catherine firstly did my sons newborn shoot which we were absolutely over the moon with capturing such special moments. They were stunning! Catherine was so good with my son and even somehow got him to sleep the whole time which was a miracle. He was so content and we were too. As soon as we met Catherine and saw the photos, I instantly knew I wanted her for our wedding and luckily she was available. Everything was so straight forward and easy which is needed in the run up to a wedding. We had a pre engagement shoot at the venue which was so perfect and the photos were again incredible. On the wedding day, as soon as Catherine turned up it was like a friend was there and was lovely to have a familiar face. Lucy was also there who was fantastic as we had opted for two photographers. The photos we have been sent are just incredible and everything we could have wished for. They captured the day so perfectly and something we will forever look back on. We would recommend Catherine to anybody. Thank you .”
