NEWBORN SHOOT STYLES

As a newborn photographer in Shropshire I offer two different styles of newborn photography.

Classic and Pure, think dreamy and timeless ‘v’ Fresh and Contemporary think beautiful poses and stylish accessories.
The first is more baby-led, organic, white, light and airy.

The other is my original style, a little more posed adding a touch of colour and using elegant textures.

I can discuss both with you and you can see my galleries to get a good feel to see what style would best suit you and your baby.

CLASSIC & PURE

I have recently developed my style of newborn photography further as I wanted to offer a really simple and elegant set of baby photos – classic, timeless and artistic where the baby is the total focus with very minimal use of ‘props’ or backdrops.

I wanted my images to show more than your baby in a pose and so have chosen to specialise and develop a more natural and organic style of newborn photography.

This allows me to capture the baby as they truly are and create memories for you to enjoy for a lifetime to come.

Your photos will show you details like how your baby slept, moved and the little faces they’d pull, the way scrunched up their fingers or stretched out with their arms above their head. Just them, as a newborn.

These little details, which are so unique to every baby are also so beautiful to capture. The resulting images focus on the details of your baby with very simple textures as a backdrop and are styled in a neutral palette.

Chloe Barlow, said: “I have seen the photos Catherine took of friends’ babies and I knew instantly that when my second child, a daughter, was born, I wanted to engage Catherine.

“I wasn’t after millions of photos and wasn’t bothered about props, I just wanted a set of classic photos, which represented my baby within the first precious days of her life. “Luckily for me, Catherine had been working on a new style and they were exactly what we were after. We couldn’t be more thrilled with the results, which capture the perfect faces and tiny features of our baby daughter. Absolutely perfect and totally adorable.”

Catherine was wonderfully patient and created such a relaxing and enjoyable environment. It wasn’t just the photos we got out of it, it was also the memory of the occasion I will cherish too.”

FRESH & CONTEMPORARY

In your newborn photoshoot I will carefully style and create beautiful newborn images which are contemporary and luxurious, with a subtle touch of colour and stunning contrasting textures.

Your baby will be professionally posed by me, but in a natural way with his/her safety as priority at all times. Unlike most photographers I have spent as much time training in the art of newborn photography with one of the country’s leading specialists and I have spent years safely working in this area, with fantastic results. You can read more about this here.

I have chosen fabrics and props that are not only perfectly safe but soft and comfortable for your newborn babies.

These including beautiful hats, bonnets, wraps and other hand-knitted and handmade accessories using natural fibres, wool and lace so that I can create a stunning collection of images for you and your family to treasure.

These carefully chosen items not only serve to help safely pose your baby in some of the adorable positions you can see in my gallery, but they also keep your baby perfectly safe and snug.

To hear how one Shropshire mum found my maternity and newborn shoots read about her experiences.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Things here are a little different to your usual studio photography experience – parents and babies can expect to relax as I look after your precious bundle and find beautiful, comfortable positions for your baby to be captured forever. My specialist training allows me to offer you bespoke, experience in my specialist baby photography studio. I provide a quality, luxury service where the safety and comfort of your precious little one is never compromised.

Those first few days and weeks of your baby’s life are so precious and special. Those tiny new feet, their silky soft skin, perfect in every way and a perfect time to capture them whilst they are still all curled up and sleepy. Your baby’s first photo shoot is recommended within the first 14 days while your baby is at their most tiny and sleepy to capture a stunning collection of images, you will cherish forever.

It might well feel like a bit of an effort to come for a photo shoot at such an early stage in your child’s life – but it is a time that is worth documenting and keeping forever. Coming to my studio will allow you some space and time to really relax and enjoy your baby– I promise!

My studio will be kept very warm so your baby can maintain its body temperature, even when in their precious birthday suit!

The shoot will be very relaxed and slow-paced, taking up to 3 plus hours. This is so we can consider your babies needs – stopping for feeds, nappy changes, the chance to fall sound asleep and of course a cup of tea for mum and dad! Time is taken to get your baby into a deep, deep sleep before starting the shoot to enable those beautiful sleepy poses. The studio is fully equipped with professional lighting and gorgeous hand-picked, quality props – such as a specially-made comfy beanbag, a beautiful moon, natural baskets and much more. There is a lovely comfy sofa for you to relax on while I pose your baby. I will carefully plan and style your shoot to suit your little one, providing all blankets, outfits, headbands, hats and accessories. Your baby brings their best outfit of all – their birthday suit!

My studio is in rural south Shropshire, on the border of Wales, a barn conversion at my home and clients have found the experience very relaxing in what can feel like a bit of a whirlwind!

BOOKING

It is never too early to book, newborn sessions are best done before your baby is 14 days old.  I will pencil in your baby’s due date in my diary upon booking – but don’t worry I know they arrive when they are ready and not before! This ensures I don’t overbook my schedule for the window when your baby is due.  A session date is then set after delivery. The best time to make contact is after your 20 week scan.
