Wedding at Delbury Hall, near Ludlow.

I absolutely love being a wedding photographer in Shropshire and I get to work with some truly wonderful people at some wonderful locations.

This summer I got to shoot the wedding of Lisa and David, who live in Suffolk but had family near Shrewsbury and they had sounded out a midlands wedding photographer to capture their big day. We first met at their pre wedding shoot at Acton Burnell Castle, an English Heritage location, which they loved by Concord College.

They were a dream couple to photograph. Sometimes you get to work with people are really into photography, as well as being really into each other!

From the first time I met them, I felt a fabulous connection between them and it was my job to help capture that forever in freeze frames. They were so fun loving and I could see they had a really genuine connection. Lisa and David were nervous at their pre wedding shoot, but they were soon at ease as we got to know each other. We met one summer’s evening and the light was beautiful. As we left they discussed with me the idea of doing a ‘first look’ on their wedding day. This is the first moment they saw each other on the big day and they wanted it to be a private moment, away from the guests, not in front of them. I thought it was a perfect idea.

At Delbury Hall, I photographed the bridal and groom preparation separately before we went across to the main house to photograph their first ‘meet’.

It was a fantastic idea and so lovely to photograph. I found myself a discreet spot, where I wouldn’t intrude as Lisa walked down the beautiful staircase and David awaited at the bottom. He turned slowly to meet his beautiful bride and they then spent some intimate moments together. It was emotional to say the least and easy to see the true love between this pair.

I then had some precious, unrushed, calm time to do some couple shots with them. No guests, no interruption and no pressure. It was all about them and why not, it was their day!

The ceremony and reception followed afterwards, where Lisa and David were relaxed and at ease with each other and I was able to capture some of the traditional shots, but also some more informal shots of proceedings.

Delbury Hall is the most beautiful and imposing Georgian mansion in Shropshire, the perfect venue for a classic country house wedding. It is so picturesque with the beautiful reflective lake, the pagoda and the lovely walled flower garden.

The house is surrounded by 80 acres of landscaped parkland and faces south across the water meadows towards Ludlow, eight miles away. Situated in beautiful Corvedale, between Much Wenlock and Ludlow, the Clee Hills and Wenlock Edge provide a picturesque backdrop. If you are looking for Hereford wedding photographers, it may even be the perfect spot for you! To have a look at Lisa and David’s wedding, view my gallery.
